Mutants Killed Hammy's Home

I was ticked to see that the city had marked my tree for total removal. Take the home of our urbanized woodland friend, how dare they! I was not so ticked anymore after I arrived home and checked out the demolition of Hammy's high rise apartment. Mutants had infiltrated the unit and had eaten halfway through the center. As seen in the last photo you can witness the results of my blind rage retaliation of the mutant attack. They popped like grapes.
We were sad to see Hammy have to leave, our friend of nearly 6 years, gone. He quickly found another home in the adjacent tree 15 feet away.

Rie & Darby In The Creek

Darby

Darby is the newest additon to the family. She arrived in July as an early birthday present for Rie. Although she was a bit timmid at first, she quickly became attached to all family and friends. Yes, even the cat.

Meet Hammy

Some of you my have already meet our friend. Hammy has been our neighbor since birth. We meet him back when he was nothing but an unbalanced tail. He was trying to snatch some powdered doughnuts off the porch during our garage sale a few years back. We chucked one to him and he didn't stop eating until he was finished, then he bobbed his head back up. The white goatee was comical. Hammy is pretty friendly and as long as you don't scare the little guy he'll come sit beside you and share a snack.

TinkerBell

TinkerBell is the newest addition to our family. Pudding was feeling lonely, bored and in bad need of a friend. Turtle seems to want hang out in her shell all day. When Rie plays with her it closely resembles Wrestlemania. A new kitten seemed to be the right fit. So now at night, instead of one cat ripping through the downstairs, chasing itself. We have two cats using the entire house as a battle ground.

Friends Of Nature

This little guy here has been a visitor at our home since he first left the tree. 3 years ago on a Saturday in Spring, this squirrel came into the yard. It so happened we were having a garage sale. Doughnuts were on the menu for breakfast, and he kept trying to grab them off of the porch. After several failed attempts and the irresistible cuteness of a baby squirrel, Hippie and her friend tossed him a powdered doughnut and he gobbled it down. It was hilarious because he had the white powder all over his face, kinda like a beard and mustache. Last year we let Rie feed him a mix of seeds and nuts and he became a daily visitor. He has grown comfortable with us and by the end of summer he had almost made his way inside the house.

The Turtle

The turtle is our newest edition to the family. She is currently known as "Turtle". She keeps to herself mostly, usually by borrowing into the corner in her cage. I've had a few turtle's in my life, but none that sleep with there head and feet sticking out. Every morning I have to tap the glass to make sure she's not dead.

A Truce

The two settle there differences and agree to peace.

Basking

Puddin' waits for the turtle to make her move. She knows this is the last ray of sunshine in the house. The turtle is willing to risk all just to bask in it.

The Cat

This is Pudding, we adopted her from the shelter. We chose her because she was the most assertive of the bunch. She had climbed onto my shoulders from a platform and rested there like a pirate's parrot. She'll still do this from time to time. Like Rie, she has to greet everyone who comes to the door. Just as soon as you sit down Puddin' is on your lap, on your chest and then she's rubbing cheeks. She is also a war veteran, her and Rie have some of the most fierce and hilarious fights in the house. They are currently at a stalemate.
