Sports On The Brain

Well, it looks like well have to wait a little longer for Favre's decision on retirement. Apparently he wants the Packer's to become more active in free agency. Which he is right by the way, Minnesota and Detroit are taking full advantage of this. Favre is due about $3 million in a roster bonus on April 1st ( Fools Day ). The Pack started out this season a cool $30 million under the cap. The few free agents we did sign were areas of need, DE Aaron Kampman re-signed. Kampman? you say, he only had the second most tackles by a defensive lineman in packers history, in only his fourth year. DT Ryan Pickett was signed away from St. Louis, again who? Last year Pickett led all defensive lineman in tackles ahead of Kampman. I'd still like another player on the line for depth. FB William Henderson re-signed and looks to finish his career in a Pack uniform. With the departure of former OSU linebacker Nail Diggs, whom I'm sorry to see go, opens the door for another Buckeye. Linebacker A.J. Hawk seems to be our pick in the draft, if not we might be in trouble. There web site says that there are more players working out in the clubhouse this year than any other before. Seems like all the changes that have been made are already starting to show. The baseball season is about to start. What the hell was the World Baseball Classic about anyway. The playoff system seemed to be the same as the one used in "Baseketball" "That was a great syke out". Thank the good Lord, Cuba didn't win, I don't know if the world needed "Viva la Castro" chants everywhere. My NCAA bracket is sitting pretty right now I've got 50 points and only 6 behind the 3 leaders. The leaders however all have at least 1 Final Four team gone, mine is still intact (Duke, UConn, Nova, and UCLA) in fact I only have 2 Elite 8 teams out right now (Kansas and UNC). After crushing the competition in the NFL pool this winter, a win here would give me the ultimate bragging rights at work.
